An antiques collector and photographer shares her fanciful flower arrangements that are guaranteed to lift the spirits.
Flower arrangements are at the heart and soul of Jane Peet; she tells her beautiful story with flowers. Her aesthetic is wildly whimsical—with an air of lightheartedness and unmatched elegance.
Jane is originally from Vancouver Island, Canada, and now lives in North Carolina with husband Shaun and “fur baby” Madison.
Jane is a photographer, flower farmer and stylist of time-worn props. Her vintage simplistic style is celebrated with a loyal 12.5k Instagram followers.
“I think of Instagram as my portfolio, and I don’t get caught up in the numbers. I enjoy connecting with my community via Instagram stories so that I can show a little of what goes on behind the scenes. My followers enjoy the simplicity and peaceful feeling,” Jane explains.
When decorating her home, Jane favors a “less is more” approach and uses a neutral color palette, such as white, pops of black and texture. However, when she’s behind the camera, it’s a different story.
“I’d say I like a light and dreamy style when it comes to photography, and I love photographing pink and light colors,” she points out.
Jane uses antiques to tell a charming visual story with her flower bouquets.
“My first small business was buying and selling antiques, which led me to my camera. I now style and photograph my barn studio, as well as the flower house my husband built for me from architectural salvage.”
Her delicate flower arrangements are created the way they grow in nature—loose, imaginative and utterly romantic. A few of her favorite vessels include ironstone pitchers, old buckets and antique baskets. The overall look is one of tranquil grace that mimics a riotous bounty of beauty.
As do her bouquets, Jane, herself, radiates a soulful disposition and prefers the humble things in life.
“I have more books than shoes, I love to walk every day with my husband and Madison, and I enjoy cooking healthy meals.”
Jane believes photography and flower farming and arranging have taught her patience and to embrace the magic of life. That philosophy is a sure way to draw happiness and smiles.
