She uses nature as her inspiration and groups her designs the way Mother Nature intended to bring the feeling of the outdoors in. Her home bursts with greenery and interesting, dynamic patterns. “People sometimes are afraid of mixing bold patterns, but there is no need to be,” she says. “I believe the best designs are created when you’re having fun and doing what you love.” Home for the Holidays. One way that you see this is with her holiday throw pillows. “Pairing patters is natural to me,” she says. “You really see this with my throw pillow collection.” This season’s pillow choice began with an oversized green windowpane plaid that she mixed with a red and white striped pillow in the family room. “I grounded the look with a solid red velvet pillow that mirrored the red velvet ribbon,” she explains. OPPOSITE TOP RIGHT • Crown Jewel. An Italian range was the main inspiration for Heidi’s kitchen design. She wanted a sturdy and functional stove that could keep up with a household of six, but at the same time, was beautiful, almost like an antique piece of furniture.“For my range, I was able to custom-select the color, so my love of blue is shown here,” she says.“This cozy spot by my stove is where I share my love of food and my goal of one day becoming a gourmet cook...at least by my family’s standards.” LEFT • Stock the Pantry. A Butler’s Pantry acts like a mini kitchen/ pantry that sits right off the hustle and bustle of the main kitchen. Heidi has a second oven in the pantry as well as a sink.“I decorated this room to feel like Santa’s Bakery with all the reds and whites and candy cane stripes,” Heidi says.
