CAROLINE IS AN EXPERT AT ADDING CREATIVITY TO NEUTRAL HOLIDAY DÉCOR. HERE IS HOW SHE DOES IT. • VINTAGE VISION. Tie in vintage décor. “I love pieces that are unique and not something you could find in a store,” Caroline says. • TEXTURE AU NATURALE. “Natural textures have a big impact,” Caroline says. “For the coffee table in our living room, I used walnuts in a bowl around the candle and, in our primary bedroom, pinecones.” • WELL STOCKED. Embellished stockings add a lot of heart to her décor. This year, she added the same ribbons in the stockings that you can see throughout her home, as well as some greenery. • GREEN ON THE SCENE. “When decorating with neutral décor, one of the easiest ways to make sure you give off the Christmas vibes is by adding touches of greenery everywhere,” Caroline says. Tucking greenery into stockings, inside the bow of a gift, or the napkins on the dining room table are some easy ways to do so. “In addition, I add sprigs to my shelf décor to give a little pop of color,” she says. • RING CHRISTMAS BELLS. Caroline adds items that you might find on a Christmas card, like bells. “In our home, you will see bells in the Christmas trees or hanging off of the cabinet or in a small vignette,” she says. “I don’t have Santa Claus around the house but little touches that are special to the Christmas season are perfect to add to your décor.” NNOT SO NEUTRAL TOP• Function. A fun and signi cant thing about decorating for the holiday is that this is the family’s rst Christmas in the house.“When it comes to decorating in a new place, it takes a lot of playing around and guring out what I like best,” Caroline says.“The kitchen is de nitely an area we use most often, so I knew I needed to keep it functional. Still, I want it to look and feel like Christmas, even in here!” Sweet holiday accents are woven throughout the kitchen but don’t interfere with such important things as rolling out dough for Caroline’s yearly Christmas cookies! 54 HOLIDAYdécor | 2022
