ABOVE LEFT • Circle of Love. To create the ceiling decoration, make a series of upcycled wreaths by using junkyard industrial parts wrapped with exible, leafy twigs. Choose a tree with leaves in rich shades of yellow, orange or red: you’ll need secateurs to snip the leaf sprays, and sharp scissors for ne trimming.Wind and bind the twigs around the circle shapes, xing the ends with a hidden piece of wire, then suspend at different heights from the ceiling, allowing the leaves to hang artfully down.Add vintage glass hanging lamps for overhead illumination. TOP LEFT • In the Mix. The decorations were made from odd retro glass lampshades and are inspired by the antique blown glass decorations popular in Germany. The brass pieces attaching them to the “tree” are chandelier spare parts. At your local market, look out for a brass seller who has boxes of old spare parts from which to assemble antique light ttings, spend some time rummaging and asking for advice, and you will soon be able to “Frankenstein” them together. ABOVE RIGHT • Wrap Stars. Layer multiple shades and textures of paper and natural rafa string for added visual interest. The exquisitely detailed, handmade 3-D tags are like extra gifts in themselves. Look for special gift tags at your local card/gift shop or online. LEFT • Tied Up with String. When it comes to gift wrapping, stick to a palette of brown craft paper with accents of silver, gold and white, and your presents will coordinate perfectly with the tree and its embellishments.
