When your home is also your workspace it can be challenging to create an aesthetically pleasing balance between the two while making it function optimally. Jenny Williamson, chief creative officer at West Rose Design, found a way to be productive at home while having her own cozy corner to do it from. As a wife and mother of two little humans and a golden retriever, it was a necessity. In two months, Jenny was able to create a room that connects to her master bedroom and features beautiful décor, thriving plants and an exercise area.

Jenny’s husband, Rob, and his friends worked quickly, building an attachment under the overhang of the roof. A passageway from the inside of Jenny’s bedroom closet leads to a small door that brings her into the she shed—much like the wardrobe Lucy walks through in Narnia. This is Jenny’s favorite part of her secret paradise. “The thrill of opening the closet and pushing a clandestine door into a hidden workout/office space where I can listen to music on my record player never gets old,” she says.

Jenny’s she shed includes a desk area that serves as her main workspace along with plants and books on a shelf above it.
The workout studio includes a Peloton bike, a modern armoire and, of course, more plants.
A private space doesn’t have to be extravagant and can be made on a budget. What makes it special is that it will be your very own secret sanctuary.
